New Englanders! Much ado about New England!

Hi, we're native Texans living in CT.

My daughter is in 4H. We're looking for some egg-laying pullets... if anyone has any leads we'd appreciate it.

Yeah, I'm bummed about the Belchertown swap too.... maybe in the future.

Great you're on MassLive.com! I used to work there and still do a parenting blog.

Which TSC had chicks around here?? I never see actual chicks in the stores, just a chance to order from them.

Hello to you as well. I have relatives in Oxford on thompson lake. I have 2 RIRs, 2 Silver laced Wyndottes, they are 10 months old, 1 buff Orp, 1 blue cochin,1 barred rock, 1 wellie, 1 unknown they are 2 weeks old.

I got the girls at the B'town TSC. They had a LOT in store, straight runs, meat birds, and sexed. They were hatched Tuesday the 7th, so my girls are 1½ weeks old, and starting to sprout tails.

As far as Guineas go, I heard they are noisy, and though I have 5 acres I wanted to start small. I really only wanted 3, but TSC would only sell 6, saying they were trying to deter people from buying them as Easter gifts. So I waited around asking people if they would like to split an order. One evil woman bought them for a gift for Easter morning for the grandkids, then she was going to "give them to a friend" after. I was disgusted, as chicks are NOT toys, and TSC sold them to her anyway. So I asked if I could pay for 6, but only take 3 and they would not let me do that either. So hubby got 6, and now they are growing fast in their brooder, and we better get going on making their coop!

Hi Texasgirlie!

You couldn't have said it any better!!! Welcome as well!

Card, we are having a Chickenstock at the Oxford Tractor Supply Co on May 30, 2009 from 9-2 , its starting to come together, I'm in hopes that a few will show up!

Who in the New England group mentioned a Aussie Rescue group coming to the Oxford TSC? I have a gentleman that is interested in adopting one if possible.

Regarding chicks in the stores, we have another local feed store in my area that will be having chicks come in over a week end in May. Call TSC or go in and ask, perhaps they have more then just one shipment of chicks. For some reason, one of our New England people appeared to not get a exact date of birds coming in and had to check daily. (don't quote me on that) I assumed they all had pick up dates, after that the replacement chicks are sold.

Have a great day! Looks like an awesome movie day!
