New Fabrics Today! Pics ~Hand Quilting Complete!! New Pics! ~

I used to use that pre-cut you can pick up at the store. Now, I make sure that my backing fabric is about 1-2 inches wider than the top all the way around. Fold it over once or twice and then one last fold onto the top and do a blind stitch all the way around. No fancy corners or anything. I like the way it draws in the backing as a final frame.

I do that, too, when my backing will coordinate well. It's just once around the quilt rather than twice to secure to the front, then to the back, so yep, less work. Lately, I've been making my own straight grain binding whatever color/pattern I want, then I sew by machine to the front, fold to the back and stitch it on. I have a bag of that commercial binding in several colors I bought from a half price bin about 20 years ago, so when it matches what I'm working on and I have enough of it, I will use that.

Thanks, Kathryn. I appreciate all your input on my projects! How many of you do quilts like this that grow border by border without a clue how it will look in the end? I seem to specialize in that, LOL.
