My local feed store started to carry a new brand of feed and I wonder if anyone else has tried it and if it's will be worth the price difference.

It's call big v poultry maximizer? 17.50. 50lb I believe could be 19.99.

700

Being this is my first flock I have been feeding just basic layer pellets brand Cumberland farm. 12.99 50lb

My hens have just starting free ranging in my garden this week to help me get rid of bugs of course. It's about 200 square ft area or more.

Any input will help I'm lost lol. :/

Ok thats good. One thing i noticed was the corn and sunflowers. I read an article that said i shouldnt feed that in the summers for aome reason.

Almost all feed in the US and many parts of the world will have corn.
The thought is probably for scratch and summer heat since those are high energy/heat producing seeds.

Compare those numbers to the feed your using now that's only $13. The only real difference in nutrition will likely be this stuff is 3 to 4% higher in protein. Besides that your paying for branding.

I can get 20% protein feed for $13, layer feeds usually are 16%. Check your inexpensive brand if they offer a turkey finisher or just starter/grower for low price. Then put out a tray of oyster shells for calcium for them to take free choice. I don't pay extra for branding. If the feed is fresh and nutritional values what I want then that's good enough for me.
