Our boys seem to care less about feeding the girls, especially the pellets. But when I go out with the occasional mealworms THEN the boys give it to the ladies.

Thanks for posting this, I’d really like to try it. Dumb question: how far do the bolts on the bucket and chain go through? All the way to the inside, with a nut inside? Any concerns about the chain slipping off of the bolt?View attachment 1805961 View attachment 1805962I enjoy these feeders so far, and the chickens picked up on how to use them very quickly. Our fencing isn't done yet, as you can see, but we needed to get the new feeders going as we have had suspicions of rodents coming around. After much research we decided on these feeders because they are supposed to be rodent proof, wild bird proof and weatherproof. I personally don't like having food inside the coop. These were fairly easy to make and we finished 4 of them in little over an hour.

So how did you get the original wire handle off? And then you drilled all the way through? Thanks! The chains are bolted onto the bucket with washers and nuts, very secure
The originals just pop off, they're not that sturdy. The bolts for the chain go in the predrilled holes where the original handle was. The tutorial video we followed is in post 10 on this threadSo how did you get the original wire handle off? And then you drilled all the way through? Thanks!
