new flock questions

so I am not having any luck finding the breeds I am interested in, I like the heritage breed and Easter Eggers, My husband and I have discussed this to the point where im confused.. so I need some advise!
I can build a brooder and for the most part easily find the chicks I am looking for. My question is this: if I get my babies but in the mean time find some older hens available. will the merging of the two be difficult?
Is it ok to start a flock with 2 or 3 types of breeds? Like barred rock, Rhode island red and Easter eggers or the silver laced? or should I start with one breed?
any and all advise would be appreciated.....

Starting with multiple breeds is fun, I like having a mix of colors it's also easier to identify individuals. My first flock was a group of 6 pullets with 5 different kinds of breeds. I didn't have any trouble with having different breeds together.
