New from Blue Springs, MO help w/ no chicken laws!!!!

Hi, I used to have chickens before I moved to Blue Springs. I didn't realize I couldn't have them until I was already there. I would like to do whatever I can to support this change. Count me in. If someone has taken a lead please let me know. Thanks

I still have no idea what is being done in regards to this. If anyone has taken the lead on this issue I haven't heard about it.

Hi Everyone! I have a 9 year old daughter that is determined she can help change this law. She will be going before the city council on 3/20/2017 at 6 pm. Her name is Molly and has done her own research of reasons she believes we should be able to have chickens in Blue Springs. I really think it would be amazing to see a group of supporters to help change this law! She would be ecstatic if this passed and so would I. Let me know if you think you can make it.

That is amazing Freckledchick! She is so excited to give this effort. There will be a columnist there writing a story about the efforts that are going to be given. It's kind of cool!

Great job keithmoran and family. She was really prepared and gave a very impressive speech. Sounds like we still have a bit more to go unfortunately. Keep your head high and keep the strong research background going and there will be nothing you can't accomplish. We will keep pursuing to break the tradition of no chickens in Blue Springs.

I too live in BS and would love to have chickens. Since the city council is unwilling to change perhaps a petition to get the matter on a ballot is the way to go.

I am willing to help I just sent the City an email on where I needed to go to help get this passed the sent me to the Chief safety officer of Blue Springs.

What did they say needed to be done?

Hey I know this is a dead thread but it’s what I got when google searching so here is my info bout BS MO chickens. In 2018 they amended the livestock law to specify that chickens are considered farm animals and are NOT allowed. I just don’t get it. A rooster I can understand but we want fresh eggs and weird egg laying back yard puppies dang it!
