Hello all, my name's Autumn. I've been lurking the forums for the better part of a year and a half, getting my questions answered just by reading posts and replies from all of you. Finally decided to create an account when I couldn't find an answer to a question on the gender of one of my birds. Got the answer I was hoping for!
I'm 42, married to my best friend for 16 years, no 2 legged kids but plenty that are furred and feathered. I have 3 dogs, 2 cats, a 150 gallon aquarium full of fish and 14 chickens. I have black sex links, Dominique's, Marans, a few EE, and 3 Americana(EE with cute puffy cheeks).
All of my EE and Marans are yet to start laying, they are all just now 4 months old. We also raise Cornish cross for meat. Have a batch of those coming this week.
I'm still getting used to chicken keeping, I've never been a huge fan of birds, my parents kept all sorts of parrot, cockatiels, and parakeets when I was a kid, and they were never nice LOL. The chickens though, have surprised me, for someone who just wanted some eggs, they have been really entertaining to own, and I spend a lot of time watching them and building things for them and spoiling them with treats from the garden. They come when I call them, and they remind me of dogs, it just often makes me giggle at myself that I find them so entertaining because I don't LIKE birds LOL! I'm an amateur yet somewhat talented woodworker and I converted our
garden shed into a coop for them and they are free range during the day but have a pen attached to be locked in at night or when I'm away for a day. Anyway that's probably enough for now. I'll attach a few pictures of my flock/coop.
