! Great to have you with us!! I agree that you should take a gander the Henderson Chart. I don't know much about Hamburgs but I can speak for Anconas - they are quick and alert (a little noisy for my tastes) - and good layers of white eggs - but as for fryers....better fry a couple...they're kinda tiny! Best of luck to you and enjoy your birds -whichever breeds you select!

Just ordered 26 chicks from Murray mcmurray for march 18....5 buff orpington hens, 5 silver spangled Hamburg hens and 2 roos, 5 and 2 of columbian wyandottes, and 5 and 2 black minorcas. My coop is planned and blueprinted and I've started buying materials. I plan to start testing my chick bin next week to get the temp right. Woohoo!

All you missouri/Kansas/Oklahoma/Arkansas people, where are good resources for finding clubs and shows? When I raised rabbits I loved the show community and wpuld love to connect with poultry exhibitors too.
