Hey all, I've loved reading posts on here so I decided to join. I'm an inexperienced chickie owner although this is my second time having chickens (first ones became food... And not for me! :/). I finally worked up the courage to get 6 1 week old chicks and they are now 3 months! Woohoo! I don't remember what they are, I'll have to post a picture. I'm more of a reader than a poster but I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions. For now, though, I'd like to know how to get in touch with others from my area and/or similar climate.

It is great to have you here!

Make sure you have a predator proof coop! Check out the coop section in the articles

Your best bet is to join your state thread and post questions there. Put state name in search box and it should come up for you. They could tell you about climate, type of coop that is best for it, and what breeds do well there

Hey there! I’m in SW Florida and just got my first ever chicks! They are 2 weeks old and I’m already in love. I’m in Sarasota county! I’m worried about the heat but I built my coop in an area that’s 100% shade all day, so I’m hoping they will be ok!
