Hi Everyone! I am Brandy, an Ohio transplant to the PNW. We bought 8 chicks this weekend and I'm super stoked to get our little flock going!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I've co-owned chickens and I've helped with them, but these are our first chickens we've owned on our own.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
8 adorable little babies!

(3) What breeds do you have?
We have a Black Australorp, a Wyandotte, a Sussex, a Buckeye, 2 Sex Links, a Java, and I'm drawing a blank on what the last little chickee is.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love their personalities. I used to sit with my friend who had them and we'd watch the chickens for hours.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to read and go for hikes. Also, since my oldest daughter plays travel and school softball, I suppose you can count watching softball as a hobby. I like to play, too, but I don't get to do that as often.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Married with 2 daughters (12 and 14) who keep me extremely busy. I'm working on writing and publishing my first in a long list of books. Currently in our little zoo, we have 2 guinea pigs, 2 axolotls, 2 cats, 2 goldfish, 1 bearded dragon, and a saltwater reef tank.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I heard about it back when we were in Ohio and dreaming of the day we could own chickens. When we bought them, I knew I had to join.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Here's a view of our shrimps and our clown fish, I think. And a few of our corals.
Lovely! There is something very special about salt water aquariums, thanks for sharing your picture!
