I have been cleaning pasty bums to but they seem good, they loved the egg yolk and all seem to be eating and pooping. There are 2 that just seem weaker then the rest. I hope they pull thru. The one surviver from last week (hope) was just looking over the new ones. Everyone seems happy. Especially me.

They are just so darn cute.

I noticed my husband stopped taking out the trash and putting dishes away in the morning. Turns out he's visiting the chicks in the morning.

For what it is worth, I read that people had good luck by putting a clump of grass in the brooder for them to eat. I tried it, and sure enough, no pasty butt since. That's if you can find grass this time of year in your area.

We have no grass. But we have about 2 feet of snow! LOL

I have about 6 with pasty butt out of my 26. I used peroxide and a kleenex to clean it off, then put olive oil on their butt with a Qtip.

I read in some other threads, that that is supposed to work good. Or they say you can use vaseline, but i didnt have any.

The oil or vaseline is supposed to help keep the poop from sticking. We will see if it works.

I had pasty butt on my babies for a day or two, then I read on here somewhere to mix a little plain yogurt in their crumbles. They said that new babies are not born with the beneficial bacteria that they need in their systems. When they are with the mommy, they get it by pecking at her poop. The yogurt has the proper bacteria that will populate their system and clear up the pasty butt.

I have no idea if this is true, but after I gave them the yogurt and crumble mix, the pasty butt went away.

If you figure this out, can you let me know? I'm down in Westport, and this thread has me biting my nails. The weather's been so awful this winter.

Still no idea. I haven't found anything out except "they'll probably come through providence". However, attempting to get a # for the PVD airport USPS is not happening. It sounds like the Taunton distribution center knows what they're doing, so that's a relief at least. Have you talked to your local PO? When are you expecting yours??

Can't believe it's almost here!! I should get an email tonight and either Thursday or Friday should get a call. I'm assuming Friday, and if I haven't had a call by 6AM I'm def calling!! Planning on staying home from work Friday, so if I do get a call Thursday morning then I don't know what I'll do...stay home both days?? hehe
