New fuzzy butts coming!!

I only know that I am getting 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte Roo and a mystery chick. All the rest of my 100 chicks are going to be a surprise. I ordered the Brown Egg Layer Pullet Special assortment. I am just on eggs waiting.

And how bad do you all think it's going to be when your local feed stores have Easter chicks available? Every year I look at those babies and think about how bad I want to buy them. This year I have the facilities for chickies. I don't know how I'm going to restrain myself!

Because I don't want to become a chicken hoarder. I'm already well on my way to being the crazy chicken lady. You BYC people are a baaad influence.

Being a crazy chicken lady isn't so bad. That's what people and family call me and it's ok. I'm doing what I love! Chickens are my life and couldn't imagine my life without them!! A crazy chicken, obsessed lady I am and proud!! Yes, some would say a bad influence but with lots of good info!!

How many chickens do you have to have to be a hoarder? Just think, If you take them you might be saving them from a worse fate like someone getting them for their kids and then not wanting them and letting them go somewhere and they might become a meal for a hawk or dog. I have 28 right now and am getting 8 more and then maybe letting misschickenlittle acquire 4, so am thinking I still need to add a few more. IF you have the space and the time and want to have something amazing to do, GET some chickens. That's all I have to say.

Michigan Transplant, I don't know exactly how many chickens makes someone a chicken hoarder but I just watched an episode of "Animal Hoarders" on Animal Planet and a guy had 150 chickens living in his house (not in cages). I'm pretty sure I draw the line at letting chickens free range in my house.

Other than that, I agree if you have the space and time why not get more. I have 16 chickens now but plan to sell at least 2 or 3 at a chicken expo in March. I have 12 new chickens coming from Ideal on February 23 and I think that will be my limit. I have a coop that is about 6 ft. long by 6 ft. wide and a run that is about 15 ft. long by 4 ft. wide. I let my chickens free range when I am home but that is not all the time. I don't want them to be overcrowded.

I feel like the expectant father, back in the day when they had to stay in the waiting room while Jr was being birthed! Pace, pace, coffee, coffee, magazine, pace, pace....

Yesterday DH had had enough of my constant BYC lurking and laid down the law about wanting his house cleaned. LOL Poor man, he ordered these things for me, now he suffers for it. I will fix him a special chicken dinner and clean up his house for him today. LOVE that man!!!
