Welcome to BYC, I am in the NW Subs of MPLS I got my first chickens last spring we have 4 Silver Laced Wyandote, 2 Australorp, 1 RIR, 3 White Rocks & 3 Golden Sex Links and all came through the winter fine in a 8x8 coop which we just made from a shed design so very basic, and is not insulated. I have a deep layer of bedding and use straw in the nest boxes, I did keep a heat lamp on all winter and window for sunlight. We had eggs all but 1 day an average of 8 a day. I can't say who is laying the most but they are great girls only the SLW get a bit cranky when getting the eggs if they are sitting on them, but all are friendly and calm that I have.
