Hi there crazy chicken people!
I'm from Northern Quebec, Canada. I speak french, but my English is not that bad.
My username means The Gray Hen, from a old french children lullaby, La poulette grise, which I used to sing to my kids, even before I got hit by the chicken virus.
I live in a urban city, Saguenay, although in a mostly rural area. Chicken are not allowed here, so I am counting on the collaboration of my neighbours to keep my girls. To get to the part of Quebec where I live, you must drive 2 hours into the woods.
Temperatures range between -25 to 95 F, from the coldest point of winter to the hottest of summer.
I have 5 hens, 2 plymouth barred rock and 3 easter eggers. Only my BR are laying yet. I planned on keeping them all through winter in an isolated chicken coop without heat, but people here think I am crazy. I guess we'll see about that.
I come here a lot to read about chicken, but now it's time for me to join the action!
Here are some picture of my coop and my girls (the first 4) on their first day. The space under the coop is now closed and part of the run.
