new goal: learning to "eat my yard"

tomatoes and pepper are the main things i don't have. they just aren't growing. my peppers are all the same size as when i planted them

That's what I'm saying. As soon as my tomato plants start looking good, blooming, little fruits appear.... BLIGHT!!!

Also, my peppers, we've gotten EXACTLY 1 (one, uno, single) pepper (singular/ not plural).

I'm in the same boat as you; at least I'm in good company, right?

Peppers like lots of heat. Ours are weird this year. I have two pepper plants. One was supposed to be a jalapeno and the other a pablano. So I'm getting jalapenos and pablanos AND long green chilis ... yeah, how did that happen?

We had our red chillies and our sweet banana peppers too close together at the beginning of the year last year and they ended up cross-pollenating. So, we ended up with hot banana peppers and light green chillies and red bananas, etc, all kinds of weird crosses. We separated them and got some sweet banana peppers later in the season, but we didn't get much out of the chillies after that. It was all weird.
This year, we have bananas, chillies, cheyennes, a jalapeno, and a habanero. Nothing has put out much at all; I think we got ONE banana. We've gotten blooms and teeny-tiny fruits, but nothing matured on the other plants. My tomatoes are crapping out on me too this year. I've gotten two yellow tomatoes that the chickens didn't get to and both of them were split, one had bugs in it, but I was able to cut the splits out of the other and I ate it yesterday. It was good. All the rest of the tomatoes my plants have produced, the chickens have gotten to while they were green and I've had to throw them out.

Sorry. I'll shut up now.

I've lost quite a few tomatoes this year to a single chicken ... a little silkie girl. We keep her and her boy free in the yard because the other birds pick on them but they managed to get into the fenced off garden and we couldn't figure out how for the longest time. The little girl LOVES tomatoes ... and anything else we grow or put out for her.

Mine thoroughly enjoy tomatoes too. We have a compost pit in the way back of our back yard. They follow anyone going from the house toward the back of the yard, just in case they have kitchen scraps. lol
