Hello all,
New guy on the block. Doing my research on raising chickens, and it looks like I came to the right place! I've been reading up over the past few weeks, and luckily, before I built a coop, I checked the town ordinances. Unfortunately, chickens are prohibited. On a positive note, several towns have modified their animal ordinances to allow chickens, with some restrictions. So I'm gathering info to prepare a case for my town to do the same.
This will be our first time raising chickens, so I want to do it right from the start if/when the town allows chickens. I tend to research the heck out of things before jumping in.
I'm married with two grown children, and we've had several pets over the years. We currently have a 1 year old mixed breed terrier/herding dog that was a rescue from Puerto Rico. I'm in the IT field, and have been for over 30 years, and my wife is an elementary school teacher. I enjoy working my vegetable garden, and always look for better ways of doing things. And, as you can probably tell from my forum nickname, I enjoy going to the beach regularly with my family.
I'm looking forward to spending lots of time here learning from everyone. Hopefully, I won't ask the same questions that have been answered here before, and will make good use of the search function.
