Hi and welcome. If you are more than 5' tall, build higher than your head. You should also build into the ground to keep varmints from digging in from underneath and killing your birds at night. Varmints like rats and snakes, weasels and minks.

When we talk about "chicken math" we mean it is so easy to fall in love with chickens, you are going to want more. You may end up with a broody hen that wants to hatch chicks. Chickens are just so darn fun! So build tight, build strong - and build big!
