New guy with chickens in Indiana

I've been checking out the site for the past 5 months and finally registered today. I'm from NW Central Indiana, near Purdue University. I started raising chicks this year for the first when I found out my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Growing up in the hippie communes of the Midwest, we grew up with wholistic values and always wanted to raise chickens for the eggs....finally, we did it!! We have 12 Rhode Island Reds, 4 Blue Breasted Reds, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 3 Ameraucana, and 1 Silverlace Wyndotte. We just started getting a few eggs forms the BBRs. Building the coop has been a blast while watching the chicks grow into mature birds. I love the site...thanks for having me!!
