(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes. I hatched and raised my first chicken in February of this year.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have one. She is my emotional support animal.

(3) What breeds do you have?
She is an Easter Egger.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
My chicken is a house hen but I love being able to have her with me 24/7 and she enjoys it too. Always curious and purring. She's sometimes helping me type on my keyboard.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I like to listen to music and anything to do with birds really. I'm also a hobby artist and enjoy animation such as short films like Lackadaisy and series such as The Owl House.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I also have a moody cockatiel. She is a bubbly delight. My occupation is currently being a college kid but I am hoping to work with chickens and other birds.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
My professor told me about it when she saw I was always with the chickens in the anthrozoology lab. She encouraged me to join BYC.

It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.
