I havent caught the smelly little bugger yet, but you can be sure when I do he wont be smellin up my rabbits again.
I have a trapper who comes and picks up. Like aI said I do not relocate.
The trapper will take a skunk anytime of the year, after all he makes $ off all the perfume people buy, and yep they do use the essence of Le' Phew

Hay! That's what I used on myself when I got sprayed. It worked great. I've been sprayed 13 times. Not bad considering I relocated hundreds of skunks

13 times

some one didnt learn after the first 10 times

I wont relocate a skunk . wont make my problem someone elses, just eliminate and call it good.

Remember I did Animal Policing for 20 years and was a licenced Wild life Rehabilitator. I didn't have a choice in picking them up. It was part of the job. Only 13 times out of hundreds of skunks. I thought I did pretty good. The only thing good about it was I was able to get out of work early. The Police Chief always kicked me out of the Police Dept. Said I was stinking the place up

Shay,
They can descent a skunk but I believe in both Mass and NH you have to have a permit to own them. I think its a wild life permit, I am not sure.
Once upon a time you didnt need permits, but now days its a good way to keep wild life out of pet shops.
I remember as a kid you could go into a pet shop in Fitchburg and buy lions, tigers and monekeys, Cervils Oscoletes etc.
thankfully they stopped that practice a long time ago.
wild belongs in the wild unless being rehabbed.

I only relocated a few skunks in a trap and never got sprayed. 90% of the skunks I picked up were sick and injured and relocated to skunk Heaven. Does anyone remember back in the late 80s when their was a bad case of distemper going around in skunks? I was picking several up on a daily basis. Theirs no easy way of picking one up in someones back yard or garage. They usually had their eyes crusted shut and were unable to see. You pretty much had to walk up to them and pick them up. A few of them had already sprayed and of course the smell just sticks to you. Blankets and tarps weren't of much help and handling them to find a vein wasn't easy. For some reason most skunks with Distemper don't spray. I remember getting called to a construction sight with a bunch of construction workers. They were keeping their distence from the skunk and boy did they laugh when they saw me drive up. They were all standing around waiting to see how I was going to get this skunk without getting sprayed. I could see that the skunk had Distemper, was disoriented walking in circles and couldn't see. I said to the guys. Don't worry I have a way with animals and I walked up to the skunk talking to it softly, patted it on the head, picked it up slowly and walked away. You should have seen the look on their faces. I also got a standing ovation and their was an article in the paper about it the next day.

I had a similiar thing happen with a very large snapping turtle...bunch of guys standing around trying to figure out how to move it,it was jumping at them and they were jumping away I walked over grabbed him and dragged him back to the pond they were all shocked....
