Hey, all! I have an about 10 week old New Hampshire Red who just started acting screwy. She's wobbly, sitting on her bottom with legs sticking out in front or out to the side. Checked her vent for impaction or prolapse and found neither. She was vaccinated for Marek's and Coccidiosis. No apparent respiratory symptoms. I removed her from the flock and placed her in a brooder where she is very interested in eating and drinking. She's had easy access to clean water and food thus far, but maybe has been too weak to get to it for a day or two. Any thoughts? Am I missing anything? The rest of the flock seems very healthy.

I have had several birds do this. Some of them lived while others died. The cause was usually diagnosed as glass consumption, though poisoning can have the same symptoms. If this is the case then the only thing I can think of is keep food & water down her & hope she recovers on her own. Sometimes the stones will grind the sharp edges off of the glass & they live. If it is poisoning then it might make it out of her system.
