I'm afraid that he doesn't look like a New Hampshire Red, either...my guess is Buff Orpington (also nice birds). Any chance there was a breed mix up?

Chick = Baby chicken of any gender

Pullet = Female chicken under 1 yrs of age

Cockerel = Male chicken under 1 yrs of age

Hen = Female chicken over 1 yrs of age

Rooster = Male chicken over 1 yrs of age

and I am positive thats a buff orp rooster.

Except it is 16 weeks old so it’s a cockerel, not a rooster...this is sad.

Thanks for the help. I am ok with the breed. It’s the gender that concerns me. Now I have to find a new home for him. Anyone interested? I live in Austin. Cockerels aren’t allowed in my neighborhood.
