New Hampshire Reds Question

I bought three NH hens ... or, rather, I THINK I did (was told I did ...) oh, whatever. Can someone please post a pic of a good quality
hen so I may compare? Mine do have lovely yellow legs, thank you very much!

I would not consider calling a breed by its proper name necessarily picky. Punctuation on the other hand. I am just saying if someone were to contact a serious breeder and ask for New Hampshire Reds they likely wouldnt get very far before being corrected about the proper name for this breed. I am not sure that is picky it is respecting those who have spent a lifetime creating a breed and someone comes along and chooses randomly to rename it. Not sure they would car a lot about how it was puncutated Just sayin

As I said before, I do appreciate the correction. In fact, I've spent the last 20 minutes or so attempting to correct every reference I have made to "New Hampshire Reds" in BYC Forums.

What is the up date in October 2010 on New Hampshires?

Doug had got some from Germany and I like the color. I have made some contacts with a few folks who are trying to get this breed back on track again. The only ones left today in the USA are Prodcution or Commerical type New Hamps and that is not what I am searching for. I have a few people who want to take this beed on and try to get them to the level that Ken Bowles had them in the 1960s. He made them famous in the old days. They are part of a Heritage breed and as much as I use to hate them I fell sorry for them today. Lets see if there are any pictures out there that you have that you can post to see what you have or who has some that I can get into the hands of beginners. bob

I have some eggs coming from Frank Reese he has two strains a egg laying and a meat strain? Dont know which one is close to the old Standard but if Doug got some form Germany and went through all this trouble then they got to be the best in Europe. I saw the picture and this bird is a good one. Lets see who else is intrested. bob

I'm a fan of the NH, I'm on their yahoo group but its barely active. Shame because they are a beautiful bird.
