Hey, Janet,
I named one of my EE's Janet. I didn't get her from you, she was a hatchery chick. But i like your name, and think it fits her.

She lays a nice green egg.
One of my roosters DID come from you. Silkie crossed with NH red (you thought). He is a dark mahogany red with green tail feathers and a funny walnut comb. The kids named him Fred.
Fred was a nice boy, but once the girls started laying eggs, he has begun attacking us when we go out to collect eggs or fill the food and water. I carry a water bottle now, and when he attacks i squirt him a time or two---then he runs away. Silly boy. My other standard roo is a gorgeous Salmon Faverolle---he is bigger than Fred but much gentler.

I have a sweet little bantam salmon faverolle who breeds our silkie hens. i'd love it if the hens hatch out a few mixed chicks. I think they'd be cute! So far, the one silkie that goes broody hasn't hatched any live babies (the eggs were fertile, but the chicks died). Maybe sometime, she'll get it right. At this point, i am not going to try with an incubator. Who knows if i will in the future?

If any one is wondering where my name comes from it's germany and they have a Neva River in Lenagrad germany. The river means Great snowy and this country gal hates snow.

The story goes my Great-Great grandfather was on the Neva river when my grandmother was born.
I was named after my grandmother.
