Hi Janet, just a test of the emergency chicken network! LOL

hi 1ChickMagnet, just an update on the white d'uccle i got from you at the Rochester-September swap.

she's such a sweetie and unfortunately she gets chased by some of the bigger girls in my coop. Sunny, my bantam cochin cockerel loves her along with 2 of my other, younger girls i had her quarantined with for the month, she seems to stay near them for protection. when she sees me opening the coop door she's right there waiting to fly up to my shoulder or run out the door for a cuddle and some treats. (ok, so i've been babying her since she is sooo much smaller than everyone!) i have named her Nova since she is such a bright little star!

how's the partridge bantam wyandotte doing for you?

to everyone else on here.
i am still looking for a home for my bantam frizzled cochin x silkie cockerel-hatched 5/27/09. i am not sure if i will be going to either the Plaistow or the Hooksett swap. so if anyone is interested in him i can send you a pick. he will be a FREE cockerel since he has curled toes, but he is still a quick runner when motivated. i've been calling him Curley Joe (already went though the 3 Stooges, no Shemp!)

i think i have found out about that little black cockerel i had at the last Chichester show. i'm thinking he could be a Red/Black D'Uccle, maybe crossed with something else. (he was part of a frizzle egg auction i had won, but he didn't frizzle) i am also offering him FREE to anyone who may be interested in taking a chance on seeing him grow up! he hatched on 9/1/09 and i've been calling him Gonzo since he is a curious little boy.

email or pm me if interested in them.

Hi Tammie, do you think you will be coming to the Merrimack swap? And if so, will you be bringing button quail...I dont think I ended up with any males out of the ones i got from you! Unfortunately i lost 3 of them at various times...I think it was the feed. So i am left with 3 very light tan pied, and 2 silverish ones and I think they are all gals!

I am not sure if I'll be able to get to any swaps until after this weekend.....I'd be happy to give you a nice male. I have juveniles that are maturing nicely. Let me check back after this weekend

I am glad to hear you like the d'uccle. the wyandotte I got from you was such a sweet girl. I was thinking of breeding her to my frizzles but decided that I really prefer black and white. I bought a bantam silver laced wyandotte from show stock and sold the partridge to nhnanna who at last account is very happy with her. she went to a really good home!

yeah, that's what i'm thinking too---he does seem to want to protect his girls. So far we haven't had predators that i know of---at least nothing has hurt or taken our chickens. But i think it's a matter of time before predators discover that we have chickens. Then we'll see just how good a job i did securing my coop! LOL

OMG I am so frustrated!!

My fluffies were all hatched by a fellow Hampshirite in late June. Thought I was all set with my 2 roosters and 16 hens. Went out to give them treats at lunch time and my two buff rocks crowed at me!! How do I find them homes this late in the year. Figuers the last NH swap was yesterday! Any thoughts?

Now I need more hens. Anyone have any of the same age 5-6 months-ish?

I've got EEs hatching right now if anyone is interested in some chicks! Unfortunately the timing puts them after the swaps. They are my October egg swap babies from eggs I got from ChooksChicks. Let me know if you are interested. If they sell this week I will do $3 each / straight run. Every week thereafter until 3 weeks they will go up $1 each. Then at 8 weeks they will be $8 for pullets or straight run, $5 for any I can say for sure are cockerels, pullets will go up $1 every week after that until 12 weeks. Then they will remain $12 for pullets, unknowns will stay $8, and $5 for cockerels (highly negotiable!). So far I have 4 hatched since noon today, 2 pipped, and it's still very early on in the hatch so there may be quite a few more by tomorrow night. There are 16 eggs set in all.

Anyone know where I could find a great new home for "Wilbur" (pot belly pig), he is all neutered and loves attention. He would I'm sure do fine in a warm barn, loves to go out on the porch. Can meet part way too if that helps
