How big is Wilber? My cousin is looking for another small Pot belly pig. You can meet her other animals on her web at Whispering Brook Farm in Hudson N.H.

He is not a small one for sure. Not sure what he weighs can get how tall he is if you'd like. He doesn't come up to my knee yet

We are new to chickens

and are having great fun with our flock of 12 birds. All of the birds were purchased this past summer, as chicks less than 4 months old. 6 of our 12 came from swaps. Our experiences were mostly good and we got some good information. Our "Java" turned out to be an EE, but that's just fine with us. The green eggs are fun and she is a nice enough chicken. She is also a prolific layer. She just started last week and layed an egg every day for 5 days, skipped a day and then started again! We love the Austrolorp we got with her. We named that pullet Ahsoka. She just began laying last week and lays every other day so far. Today she layed a HUGE egg with a double yolk! Very cool!!

The EEs we purchase in Merrimack the same day are lovely and sweet. No eggs yet, but we are waiting patiently. My daughter just loves those girls (Julie and Ventress).

We also purchased 2, 3 day old chicks from a nice guy involved in 4H at a Swanzey swap because I thought it was great he had ordered those chicks to make sure there were chickens at the chicken swap in case nobody else with chickens showed up (there turned out the be a lot of poultry there). And besides, who can resist a baby chick? Those girls are golden comets/golden sex links. They are getting very big now and are also very sweet and getting along with the rest of the flock.

Java (EE) and Ahsoka (Austrolorp) below:

i dont think either of those girls look like ee's to me, what makes you think so?

Sillyaboutchickens, lovely birds you have there. Good pic too!

Chickn, I think the laying green eggs was her tip off on Java. EEs can look pretty much like anything since they are mixed breeds.
