Hello All! I just wanted to pop on and give everybody a heads up for this spring, and 'feel out the waters'. On Thanks giving weekend, I had a FrankenSilkie/frizzle bantam cochin hen stroll out of the woods with 17 chicks. The batch is very mixed, as the shells we found told us that there where 3 contributing hens, and two roosters. One of the Roosters, Harold, is a Franken Frizzle, he is Calico, with dark blue, cream and gold and white. and the most beautiful frizzling you have ever seen. Well, two of the babies are pure blue, and frizzled. We have decided to build harold a coop and harem of his own, and hopefully hatch the babies for you all this spring.

I am hoping to find out how many people, if anybody, is as interested in a blue frizzle as I am, or if its just my own passion. there are other interesting babies in this mix one white sizzle too, but my interest is in the blues.... would any one be interested in some chicks this summer, if I hatch more of his eggs?

Also, I bought some partridge chantecleer chicks from one of the swaps, and one of them turned out to be a STUNNING Blue laced rooster! picture a partridge chanty roo, and replace all the black with rich blue, and even some lacing on his breast, and you have our 'Broken Crow' (he had a horrible crow when he was younger)

He is too pretty for a pot, but really too big for our girls, so hes gotta go..... if any one is interested, please drop me a line....

And last but not lease, I got my grubby little paws on some Blue Palm Turkeys last summer! The hen is laying now, but he is not doing his duty yet... but we hope that eventually, we will be able to hatch some lovely poults.... would any body like to put in thier bid for them now? if no one is interested, we wont bother to hatch. I also have a pair of Jersey Buffs, pair of Gorgeous Blue Slates, (not hatchery, but breeder) and a lonely Lavender Tom in need of a lady or two.

So, if you guys (and gals) could give me some feedback, I would appreciate it! Thanks! A~

Those turleys are beautiful. Do they get too fat to be kept as pets? Or can they be happy living in a free range situation with a coop at night? I would be interested if so. They are gorgeous.

the turkeys are a heritage breed, off shoots of the Royal Palms. they are not the Broad breasted variety that cant self reproduce, these guys free range very well, and are pretty friendly. We let them share the coop with the chickens until next spring when they get their own building and field. (yes I know about blackhead, and they get fed the proper food to prevent it) The other colors mentioned are also Heritage, and growing like weeds.

for more info, check out the website for porter heritage turkeys, I dont dare put the link in here, cause the last time I mentioned it, BYC closed the thread down, but a simple search will find them, they have the coolest turkeys in the world, and we will be getting more from them this spring! I want the penciled palms! Wow!

I still have a nice black laced red wyandotte Roo free to a good home if anyone is looking. If not someone can take him for meat. He is HUGE and starting to make conflict in the coop. Please PM me or email [email protected] I would use him for meat myself but i dont have the guts to do it yet.

If I was at my own place, I would take him but I am at my daughters and already have to many roos.
We are looking for a place to rent until my home in Maine sells if anyone knows of anything where I can have the chickens and dogs.
