OK, so today the temp reads 109.2 on both the thermometers in the crapppy Hovabator. Why did I not use the LG?? No wonder the people I bought it from were selling it. They were probably sick of fried eggs too.

i didn't have a whole lot of luck with my hovabator last year. even had a 107 degree spike that killed most of the eggs on week 2. now that i have a broody bantam cochin i'm testing eggs from my own coop before i spend the money on bantam salmon fav eggs.

i'll admit, i've been getting a lot of emails from Ideal lately and it has been very tempting to order from them. but our expenses and space is limited at the moment and the breed and size i really want to keep they don't have.

i had decided not to hatch this winter, so weird no chick hatch dates on the calendar. so sad.
what kinds are you raising shay?

its also weird not having any swaps missed the one in dec and jan got canceled, and i cant tell you the last time i went out to the coop, c takes care of all that in the winter. i have been a bit depressed so maybe that would help, a visit to the coop and a chick order!!

I would go for it. I have some in the bathroom as well as eggs in a staggered hatch to test fertility on the new layers.

After all the pups left it was too quiet and boring around here even though we kept one of the red babies.

you did keep one, awesome, where are the pictures? what kind of chicks>

my dh is the one keeping me in check with the chickens. keeps telling me before i bring anymore onto the premise we have to get rid of some. i only have 19 birds at the moment and 14 of those are bantams! they don't take up THAT much space!

let's see, 3 roos and 3 hens in the house 4 of which have to go out to the coop, another roo and 12 girls in the coop...ok time to cut back on the roos!

if anyone is interested i have a young curly feathered silkie cockerel, cute little boy and so far has been quiet on the crowing but might be because he is not dominant. and a cockerel that hatched with him but i am not sure what exactly the breeds he could be crossed with. he has foot feathering, beard, muff, and a large comb, he has been gentle so far on the hens i've put him with.

Chickn, will you have any hatching eggs from you bantam salmon favs coming soon? i've decided that i'll be sticking with them to breed.

this is the silkie-Fozzie if anyone is interested in him. i'll get a pic of Gonzo if anyone is interested in him-pm me if anyone is.

I have a few silkiexfrizzles (sizzles?), silkies, BO, and GLW or they may be crossed with Buff Brahmas. They are from my daughters pen.

This is Naomi, she is the third generation female from Mya. She will be staying with us. She almost didn't make it when she was about a week old she spent the day at the vets with some kind of virus. We lost her sister that looked like her and a brother to that same virus.

This is Ruby, She is from Shania's litter. She was sold but the people brought her back because the dog they already had hated her and they didn't get along. We may end up keeping her also.
