Chickie'sMoma :

that's interesting. i know i am not npip yet since i am still working on getting my feet firmly wet with chickens before i decide which to breed and sell. i thought Chickn was a npip participant. i would think there would be others too!

darbella, were you switching the spot where you were injecting the Tylan into? i heard you shouldn't inject into the same spot with that stuff due to it ruining the muscle.

Yes, I did alternate legs each day for the 3 days she got the injections, and where she got it twice in one of her legs, I did move the area on the thigh down a bit for the second one. She was so thin that I am thinking it damaged the muscle (or lack of muscle). But would it have taken this long to see this happen? It has been over a month since the treatment and her weight is up. She is a finiky eater and needs coaxing. If it were not for her personality and sweetness, i would not be putting this much time into it, but have her euthanized.

thats not true, i had mine tested, my father had his and tony had his, and wayne did also, just this past dec. and yearly, so not sure why they would say that.

Maybe I am missing something in his explainations then. We have emailed back and forth 5 times now answering various questions for me. This was the question and answer, I copied it from his email. " 5) How many certified flocks are there in NH? Is there a list somewhere? ANSWER - NH has 1 certified NPIP flock, although there are approximately 7 flocks that are tested annually and have been listed in the NPIP catalog and on their website.

Do you guys know - Is the charge the same to be "tested" as opposed to "certified" ?

Sorry I did not intend to open a can of worms. I would like to be certified myself.

interesting play of words. let me find my certificate and see what the wording is. i know they ask if you want to be in their catalog . will get back to you.

Hi Shay, her cold is better from the Tylan injections, if in fact it was a cold. Definitely something respiratory because she sounded like a duck when sne sneezed/coughed. LOL Will the Vet RX help rebuild muscles tissue also? She does like the cracked corn. I have been feeding them all a mix of crumbles and cracked corn and layer pellets. Yesterday I bought a bag of the scrathc grains too and she is picking through that.
I am upset that I did not catch on to the men I purchased her from. I saw that they were giving them water that was yellow and I just thought maybe it was vitamins so did not ask. Then when i heard her breathing a week later and also lost the roo, I realized they must have had medications in the ater and came to unload sick birds at the show. I know a young man that also bought 7 birds from them and they all dies within 2 weeks of purchase and I lost the roo. No wonder their prices seemed too good to be true. They said they were downsizing fro the winter and that was why they priced all their birds to sell. DUH!!! I will pick up some of the Vet RX, I do give ACV in the water but not all the time. They are all in my studio because it was so frigid last month it was easier to keep them there that break my neck getting to the coop. So this spring, we will plan a better winter strategy with a heat lamp or something. The dust is killing my art supplies and I hate to theink what it may be doing to my furnace!

Hi Greg and Janet, her cold is better, it is the walking that has me concerned now. i will see what happens, maybe have to make her a wheelchair. Think I can park in the front row if i take her with me to the mall!

I have a friend looking for a mini Rex or whatever the smallest lop breed is. Something for her son, she promised a rabbit for X-mas but wanted all the holiday hoopla ti die down first, which was smart thinking on her part. So now they are ready for the rabbit. They are looking to spend 10-15 bucks. Does not matter if male or female.

No i dont think the vetrx will help with muscle tissue. if her cold is gone just put some warm vetrx under her wing at night.
You can give the birds ACV everyday, i do, and a lot of others to do.

for a preventitive , for 1 week straight, use crushed garlic with ACV in there water, use 2 or 3 cloves in 20ml of acv in a litre of water.
then after the week, use just the 20ml of acv in 1 litre of water everyday.
