New Haven zoning taking woman's chickens away

that video is super cute!! thier is a lady form france who just moved into my city and she is so mad that she can't get chickens again. she was just going off about how in london and everywhere else its the new thing to do. but welcome to the usa. we are a step behind in the right stuff as normal. just picture it the day all city officials dread has come to life. attack chickens instead of dogs. i can see the headlines now.

I love the comment on that video "they seem to be well behaved"

Yep. We've been having a lot of problems in our neighborhood with pullet/cockerel delinquency!

Same here in our own family. Henry the roo was caught breaking and entering the neighbors down the road. He informed me he was after the cd player!

I know I would rather have chickens than have a neighbor that has a dog that barks all night long...Yep teenagers can be a big problem also, but you dont see them removing the kids from the home just giving a warning and the dog still will bark on occasion...I would rather hear chickens than wind chimes, they can get really annoying when the wind is going good and it will keep you up at night or during the day is you are a day sleeper...Some that call in and dont give a name just have too much time on their hands and are chicken...lol...to say who they are. If you are going to call have the guts to give your name...

Amen to that!!! I just said last night that I need to find a mountain somewhere away from all this so called progress!!! I'm being invaded by a neighbor building right across the road from me. They will be able to hear our every word. We won't be able to break wind without them hearing it! We've been here 17 years with no one around us. My family justs hates seeing this happen. I'M READY FOR MY MOUNTAIN!!!!!!

Tat is too sad. And the replies are right. Chickens are seen as dirty. Unfortunately they are only if the owners are dirty. Some of the coops I see here are nicer than some peoples houses. Chickens are a great asset to our communities. They keep bugs down, fertilize your yard, and are the best therapy I ever had. I get stressed and go hang with the girls. They bring so much life into my yard, I used to hate going back there, now I love it. Except the porch poop. I can understand a no roos policy. But barking dogs are way worse. So far my city has been great, our main library even has free ranging chickens, peacocks, and quail. And we are not by any means rural.
