Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Do you know how old the hens are and if they were laying before you got them? Also, chickens do not like change and things like moving them to new homes will upset them enough so that sometimes so they will stop laying for awhile, they may lay an egg or two that was already in the system, but then will stop for a couple of weeks or even longer.

Welcome to BYC!

X2. Hens don't like to be moved to a new home and can stop laying for a couple weeks until they get used to their new digs. Where they laying before you got them? If so, give them some time to adjust. Don't handle them much for a couple weeks, move slowly around them and go sit quietly with them with some treats. Let them get used to you. Keep fake eggs in the nest boxes too so when they do start laying again, they know where to lay them.

Good luck with your new hens and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Welcome to our flock!

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

As said above, most hens will lay an egg every few days, once they have become accustomed to their new surroundings, if they were laying before you got them.

Good luck with your poultry raising adventures, and I hope you find everything you need to know. Don't forget to take a look at BYC's very useful learning center (If you haven't already)! The learning center as well as the forum should answer your questions! There is always something new to learn there! Glad to have you here! See you around with the flock.
