New Hen

Just got some CCL eggs from an auction. They’re almost turquoise! And couldn’t resist bidding on this LS bantam. She has 7 chicks. 2 CCL cockerels and 5 Silkies. I’m letting her raise them until they’re 3-4 weeks old then selling them as I have no interest in keeping Silkies or cockerels. I’m hoping after a nice break she’ll brood again. She’s setup in a hutch at the moment, to keep the babies safe and I’ll use it as quarantine. I’m not sure if I’ll keep her with the layers. I plan on hatching Pekin bantams and keeping a bantam flock so I’ll maybe just keep her with her chicks until I hatch some.

She’s a Light Sussex bantam

Aha! I have what I think is a cockerel, an EE that looks a lot like her, and I suspect he is part Sussex as well. He is just coming 12 weeks old.

Wow what a stunner! He sure could be part LS. I know they’re used a lot in making sex linking hybrids.
