New hens laying already!!!

I found two Red SexLink hens that were about a year old. Put them in the run around 1pm, and by 5 I found an egg. I was expecting it to take at least 3 days for them to start laying. I was surprised.

Just wanted to check: Red Sex Link do lay brown eggs right? Wanted to make sure my australorp didn't lay her first egg. If she did it wasn't pullet sized.

Yes on the brown eggs...Our red sex link lays a big brown egg with white speckles.
Our Australorp hasn't started laying yet either!!!
