New hens

If I have to take out the bully bird...does the bully need to be out of sight....or can they see each other?

you can put her in a pen inside your henhouse/yard.so the hens can see eachother.

You just need to separate her so she isn't the boss any more. when you put her back she'll have to find a place in the flock again and hopefully not at the mean top hen.

MissPrissy says it all so well and has the gift/talent of economizing on words, unlike me!

I was going to add that sometimes a rooster will keep peace amongst hens. They don't like a hen squabble at all!

Thanks for the advice on this subject...it now appears that things have settled a tad...and for the most part all is well.

The top bird still gives the White Sussex a dig every now and then..but nothing too extreme at present...will watch and see.
