Hello to all my fellow crazy chicken people! I must admit I have been a lurker for about 2 years. I do NOT know why it has taken me this long to actually become a member. I have looked up so many things on BYC and have learned so much within all of your pleasant conversations. I am very excited about being a part of this chicken community! Let me tell you a little about my family and my feathered family. I am married with two wonderful little girls, seven and two. Growing up in the country my family always had chickens. So I was very excited to start my own family and begin a new adventure with some feathered friends. After much discussion, perhaps more persuading, my husband finally agreed to the idea of chickens. Once I got the “green light” I went chicken crazy! Doing hours of research trying to decide what breed would best fit my family. Once I made the hard decision, I loaded my children up and off we went to the neared DnB to purchase our new little flock. I decided a mixed flock would be best for us, mostly because I could not decide on one wonderful breed. So why not have one of each breed that best fit our needs? Right? So here we came with that little box full of six wonderful little feather balls. Holy smokes! I fell in love so fast. I must say my chickens are so incredibly spoiled, it’s almost embarrassing. I couldn’t get enough of them! My husband isn’t as in love as I am, but he is coming along. We now have 20 lovely ladies and two handsome gentlemen. Although my family doesn’t share the intense love that I have for my ladies, they humor me with all my chicken talk and craze about those big fluff butts. I’m an very proud to say I am a new member of BYC and cannot wait to engulf myself in many hours of chicken talk. Hello to all!!

You’ve come to the right place! We’re all chicken mad here and there’s loads of friendly, knowledgeable members who will be pleased to help when needed or simply just chat about all things chicken 
and you’ll find lots of information on here about chicken/duck/poultry keeping. The community is fab and everyone is helpful and kind. You can spend hours on here without realising!! And there is nothing better than engaging with others who have the same interests and passions as you. Can’t wait to hear about your experiences!
