Just to be clear when I said roam that was meant as roaming in a trailer that I could move around my yard everyday to give them grass, bugs and other things to eat other then food and to keep them occupied. I was thinking of making a trailer 12 x 5 x 3 with 12 - 20 inches below it where they could go down and eat what nature provides and keep what I provide up top with a latter. Kind of like a trailer for chickens but for quail. Will that work?
And do you know if you can find eggs now or some young hatchlings? I would love to get them started in the next few weeks in my garage then move them outside when the weather is nice.
Thanks for all the input. And seems like I will lean towards the coturnix especially since my to young girls will be able to handle them.
