Hello fellow chicken enthusiasts!!! I've been lurking here for awhile & finally joined this fantastic site. First off, let me thank you all for such wonderful information...it has been a great resource for me as I foray into the world of chickendom.

I'm currently keeping a mixed group, consisting of Turkens, Cochins, Silkies, Ameraucanas, & buff Orpingtons (all younger birds, 2-3 months of age), and 4 resident Guinea hens.

We also keep peach-faced lovebirds, English budgies, a Princess of Wales parakeet, and a pair of Laughing Kookaburras.

Anyway, here are some pics of some of my favorites:

These are some of the most rewarding, relaxing birds I've ever kept...I work with animals full-time, and my chickens are now my downtime! Hanging out with them & listening to their soft, soothing peeps is better than any therapy I could possibly imagine. They really give me a new appreciation for learning to be still & just enjoy the moment, a cherished break from the hustle & bustle of daily life.

SO glad to be here...thanks again!

Thanks for the warm reply! We're up here on the Arctic tundra (and political frenzy

Although I'm FROM Texas, just to clarify, of course.

Hi Wilkdsky! Thanks for the heads-up - that pic should be fixed now.

Here is my pair of Kooks. Both pics, Sydney (male) on the left, Bindi (female) on the right.

Welcome to BYC....you have some beautiful birds. Those kooks are very interesting. Never seen anything like that before. The beaks are so big, i think i would be afraid to hold them
