Hi everyone,

I'm Erika, from Washington state. I've got 5 chickens (just got them in March) and just realized I have two roosters. Sigh... I really just wanted hens. I have raised chickens since I was a kid and this is the first time I've gotten roosters so I am a little surprised! I was hoping to figure out a way to give them a new home but I don't trust the replies I have been getting from craigslisters... I think they will become someone's dinner if I go that route :(

Anyway, I hope to get some tips on here.

Thanks
-Erika

If you can't keep roosters in your area, you may want to try local swaps or flea markets.
Keep in mind that most people buying roosters will probably eat them.
You can also find local chicken owners who would like to have a couple of roosters running around their farm.
If you CAN keep the roosters, you will enjoy watching them run around; they've got personality!

Again, welcome, Erika, to the forum!!!

from California! I too, have gotten roosters that I haven't been able to keep. Unfortunately like the previous poster said, most people end up eating roosters. So far my local feed store will take the ones that I can't keep. Good luck.

Hello and welcome to BYC

Getting rid of roosters is always difficult for me. But I try and give/sell them to people I know, but I sometimes have to sell them to strangers and pray. Hope you find good homes for your boys!

Hi and :welcome

You should check out your state's thread in Where am I, where are you. There might be someone there who can point you in the right direction, or even take your roosters for you. :D
Good luck, I hope they find a good home. :)

Enjoy the site!
