Hi all,
I'm new here although have been a BYC fan for sometime. This is our first endevour with chickens. We ordered 8 from my pet chicken. 1 poor white silkie did die but the others are thriving. We have 2 buff orpingtons named Rosie and Clover, 2 Silver laced Wyandottes named Rum and Raisin, 2 Easter Eggers named Chipmunk and Spice and one white silkie named Cotton.
We homeschool our 3 kids so this has been a great project for them. They have built roosts, nest boxes and help with the general care.
The coop is huge and we converted part of our barn into a coop and run. I wanted to free range them but we have so many racoons and fox around here that I was afraid to.
We love our girls so much that we will be ordering some more chicks in the spring. Probably a few more silkies-my son loves them and some more easter eggers.
Glad to be here-
