ps My DS and DIL live down south of you a little bit in Plymouth. I think it's 20 minutes south of Placerville.

It's a beautiful area; great country and temps.

That is a beautiful area and I love going down there, but I am in Placer County, not Placerville, Placerville is about 45 minutes down 49 on the other side of the canyon. Meadow Vista is about half an hour north of Sacramento up 80. It is kind of liked a huge Triangle with Sac and Auburn (Meadow Vista) and Placerville at the three corners. 80, which we are on leads up to Truckee, Reno and North Tahoe and Placerville (hwy 50) leads up to South Shore Tahoe. The whole area up here is amazingly beautiful. I love being in the Sierras with the coast just 2 hours away. We go commercial fishing out of Bodega Bay in the summers and it is an easy jaunt there and back. We defintely have the best of both worlds and live in a small tight knit community. But man, oh man, do we pay out through the nose for being here. Right near my new home is a parcel of 11 acres, undeveloped for $400,000. And no, our salaries are not that much higher, beleive me. It is just ridiculously expensive to live here. But the whole Sierra range is absolutely breathtaking.

jeaucamom, not that I'm trying to one-up you, but you can pay $400,000 for an acre around here. One. Acre. Seriously. I have no idea how anyone affords a home nowadays, I'm so thankful I got mine when I did and held onto it (through divorce). I have no land, only .6 of an acre, but it's mine

Paid $40K, it's worth $350K now. I could never buy a home today.

What a beautiful home, in such a beautiful setting. Boy, if these any way at all she'd be willing to help you lease with option to buy, that would be terrific. How could you find anything prettier than that? Really fabulous.

Reinbeau, That is so outlandish.... I think on one of the other posts about someone inheriting money and looking for a great place to buy, people were talking about acre for 1k. Maybe I am mistaken, but geesh, the difference is mind blowing. I am really happy for you that you have your land and that is such a good investment for you. You are very blessed

I love that area, too. I have family in Shingle Springs, Tahoe, Sacto and Yuba City.
My mom lived in Rancho Cordova and there is an overcrossing named after her on 50 at Mather Field Rd.
