New Homemade Hatcher Complete...Waiting for P.O. to Call with My Eggs

Cyn,
Super job. I copped out and bought one. I have to say that if you can keep temps that tight, then you've got the best bator in town!

I noticed that you have some type of disposable liner in the bottom. It looks like it is perforated. Is this a good idea instead of the wire mesh ...or in addition to? And it might be a good idea for when the little ones are hatching out. Where do you get that type of towel?

Thanks

That's just rubbery shelf liner, comes in rolls almost anywhere, Walmart, grocery stores, etc. Cheap and easy to cut and fit. It has a non slip quality that is soft on the little chickies feet and the eggs are less likely to roll so much. You dont have to use it, but I do like it.

I use it, too. It has been real good with these big goose eggs. They don't roll around and bump when the goslings hatch. It also gives the hatchlings something soft and warm the sleep on.

Woo hoo, Cynthia! That hatcher is awesome! I'm in the same boat, waiting for the PO to call... they were supposed to be here yesterday!!!

Mine are all here and in the bators. I decided to put them in today rather than in the morning. Now, I have a problem! My DH had a referral to an opthalmologist for a burst blood vessel in one eye. Guess when the scheduled appt day is, we just found out, an hour away from home? HATCH DAY! I may have to go with him since they will dilate his eyes!

LOL That really sucks! You'll have to figure out how to hook up a webcam and get updates through a laptop or something. Wish I was closer, I'd babysit them for you:) Oh wait, who would babysit all my babies?

I am from GA, Covington area. We used to go to Helen all the time. Are you close to there?

Terri
