new in MN

I am afraid it's too big. We really wanted to use existing space. Our alterations to the horse shed cost $100 . Some of what we used was stuff laying around.
To big!!! No such thing. If there is lots of space get more chickens!!!

Ha! We originally planned on 5, number has increased 10.....and the coop isn't even done! We have 5 chicks and some one is giving us 5 hens they find too difficult to take care of. We have a plan for keeping them separate until the chicks are much older.

OK. Have you ever considered turkeys, geese or ducks!!

We had to take one duck with the 5 hens. I am not happy about it, as ducks are messy and there is only one. But that was the deal.....I love ducks, but not the mess and in northern MN I can't mess around with water pools and hauling a lot of water, etc. So, we will have one lonely duck that won't get to swim much Oct. to May... If it isn't terribly difficult with one this winter I suppose I could get another......

We had 2 ducks over the winter and didn't have a problem. I'll post a pic of how I kept it dry

I am thinking now of how easy it would be to keep the duck in a dog house in the front area of the coop, what I call the coop porch, and just get another duck so there are two......
