New Infraction / Warning System - Points for rule violations

I think all the rules are completely clear, and of course are there to stop more serious problems from happening. I think its a good system, it will probably have glitches... but they all do, and the Mods do their jobs well so it will do more good then bad even if its not perfect yet.

Just to clear one thing for me, because I love cross promotion with BYC's sister sites (TEG, BYH and SS) its ok to promote and get people on BYC to check out those sites in appropriate threads, especially if asking for specific information easily accessable on those sites. Many non-chicken related topics pop up on BYC, and we have great communities attached to BYC that stick to those topics more often then BYC has room for them (ie. Gardening, recycling, raising baby goats...ect).

You'd definitely be safe there! Look down at the very bottom of the page -- there are links to them.

Thanks for the great comments and feedback everybody!!

Correct! Those "sister sites" were created so BYC didn't become an "all things to all people" kind of forum. So, promoting those sites, linking to them, etc. is fine since they are simply an extension of BYC (and moderated by the same team).

I agree. I not only remember IRC and ICQ, I was a mod on GEOCITIES a very long time ago. That's how old *I* am.....

Moderating SUCKS - there is NO "glory" in it.

I am thrilled with how well BYC serves its purposes, and indebted to Nifty and his minions for the virtually safe world created for us chicken folks and those of similar ilk.

I know! I know! Pick me, pick me!

Oh, that was hypothetical? My bad.

Great new system, guys.

I think this could also make it easier for people to not question moderation, since they know more about the process!

I have a problem with just one of the set of points and a question about it. It says no sharing of personal info. Well, we (not me specifically, but a close friend) have a chickenstock coming up and have posted her address in the first post so people can find it. Under the new system this would be a violation and result in her receiving points. How is that going to work? Can we not promote chickenstocks at our houses?

This is another grey area (see bumping), it is meant to discourage children from being unsafe in the internet, adults that decide to do this ...

OR post that there is a chickenstock in the (zipcode) on the (DATE) PM for more info, then you can decide who to give out the address to?
