Dr Jewell at Town and Country Vets on Rt 9 in Manalapan comes out to treat my sheep and goats. I don't know if he does ducks. Dr Briggs at Ocean County Vet on Rt 9 in Lakewood is an avian specialist but I don't think he makes house calls.
I hope you find someone!

Here is the contact information for a really great vet who is young, enthusiastic, sincerely interested and will come to your home. He works with all sorts of farm animals other than horses, and he does treat birds. He has helped me out a couple of times and I would recommend him very highly.

He is great! HE also works out of the Popcorn Park Zoo. He does treat all kinds of exotics including birds and he is mobile. Good luck.

I'm thinking about taking the class too. I guess I need to decide quickly. I'm assuming we will have to but our own testing supplies. I wonder how much people usually charge to test birds?

Hope to see you there. Don't know exactly what to expect but I guess we'll find out.

Yes taking class to be certified trainer. My boys only have shown birds for 4-h. I'll have to get my contact info for the tester I know when I get the chance.

Andrea

Thanks! She picked it up at the store the other day, along with our new....4-H Discount Cards!!!!... My son and I might stop by to the meeting as well!

Wondering if there are many of you fellow NJians in sussex county? I think I may be looking for someone to split a bird order with... my DD will not be happy if I cannot find some silkies and EEs for her at TSC and I can't order 25 more (well I could, but I would have to move into the coop

with them when my DH discovers them:eek:).

There are a lot of silkie people at the show - you should wait and get some from them - they'll be better quality. The show's May 21st. There are some Sussex people on here.

Try going over to the Silkie thread and see if anyone is in NJ or nearby and coming to the show. Broody's Bordello was there last year and she has great birds.

As it is just for the kid it only needs to be reasonably healthy not SQ or anything (I don't want to spend a lot on them, and I think I want to get it as a chick for her with the other breeds we are getting in early april). I will check the silkies thread too. Thanks!
