Thanks for the warm welcome. I got the human nursing figured out. Didn't know vet's had nurses. Thought they were all techs. Learn something every day.
I bought an incubator (genesis 1588) and have eggs coming in a few weeks.BBS Orpington and BLRW. Omg![]()
I went with the GQF genesis 1588 hovabator. It seems very popular with folks. I would love to get a brinsea but since I am starting out, I think this would be best. Also without the egg turner its under $200.thinking about a bator there are so many different kinds. What is the best and easiest for beginners?

100 is awesome. Lets us know how it goes. I will set my eggs in two weeks when they come.I also got the the hovabator genesis 1588 (mine came with quail eggs and turner for 198 plus tax (free shipping) from gqf. This is my first attempt at hatching and so far so good. I can say i am glad i went for a model with the digital temp and humidity display. I am also glad i got the turners. I think opening it to do that all the time might make it hard to keep the temp and humidity right (and might get to be a pain). I essentially stuck the eggs in the turner, put water in the tray and plugged it in. I candled yesterday and i have 100 percent developing. I hope i get them to hatch without shrinkwrapping or drowning them (i hear quail can be tricky with such a small egg there can be less room for error).
Yeah I didn't want to break the bank. I used my secret Mom money (not really just what I stash away for things). I'm hoping the kids will be interested.I also bought the Genesis 1588, it should arrive tomorrow. It was really the best I could find without spending $350+. Hopefully it serves me well!
