Thank you for the offer. That broody quit a few days later. A different Silkie became broody on Saturday. She is sitting on some fertile grocery store eggs since yesterday. With how cold it is, she is up for a huge challenge!

I just lost my best broody silkie to a peregrine falcon Dec 22nd. My one legbar hen got hit in the head when it attacked my silkie. I have her in the house trying to save her. My silkie is now buried in the yard. The falcon hit when the dogs went inside, it was raining out .all my chickens are on lockdown. I was just Certified by the state 2 weeks prior for AI and NPIP too.
I Will be looking for 2 super broody silkies come spring to hatch eggs for me. I don't know if my rooster even saw the hawk as he is young

So sorry to hear that you had an attack as well. There are some great silkie folks at the show each spring, so if you don't find one before then... How is the legbar doing? Now that you are NPIP I can't give you any birds, but can you have eggs (or do those have to come from an NPIP as well?)?

Millie is hanging on, the swelling in her head went down and part of the scab fell off her eye but she still isn't eating well, we are feeding her 24/7 and giving her liquid vitamins as well. She was bad tge first 6 days after the attack, then had a great day where she ate and drank on her own , now past two days she is going downhill again.
I am not sure on eggs. The woman tokd me if I get any hens that aren't npip I lose my status and just have to start over.
I need a super broody silkie who is a great chick raiser to, buffy did an amazing job with her chicks .

Or I just say the hell with it and don't bother with the npip stays and go back to the way I was before and get hens from whoever I want. I haven't decided yet, as I want to see how much I can't do being certified

Only if the box says fertile. Certain trader Joe's and whole foods carry them. I found these in stop & shops organic section.

Bauer that is so weird to see fertile eggs in a store. Are they in the refrigerated section ?

What white hawks are in the nj area? My husband said an all white colored hawk killed my silkie
