New Jersey

Does anyone know of any available silkies in NJ? I posted elsewhere that I recently lost two of my four to a hawk. Very sad. No more uncovered run. I am looking to get at least one more in case one of the two I have is a roo. Thanks

This is my breeder. I don't know where you are in NJ but I see he has some silkies. https://vr-homestead.business.site/
Tell him Crystal Cahill sent you.

BTW this guy guarantees gender if you only want pullets. You can return cockerels in exchange for a pullet in the event he makes a mistake.
Of couse that would need to be done in person since by the time you know its a male it's too big to send in the mail!

That is a HUGE motivator to take the hour and a half drive! I’m going to reach out to him. Thank you so much :)

For those in central nj, I would recommend slope brook farm in colts neck. Chicks are outside free ranging all day from the beginning. They are very healthy and excellent foragers. The birds I got from them free range efficiently and require less feed.

I was "sold" when I saw all the birds including chicks outside of cages and pens just enjoying the land!

I just wanted to thank you for this recommendation. I am close to Colts Neck and was looking for a silkie because I only have two (after a very tragic hawk incident) and went there today. The new girl is a bit older than my other two little ones and she showed them how to get up to the roost on her first night! I usually have to pick them up and put them in because they wouldn't go up the ladder. ha ha. It's a nice farm and all the animals are clearly well cared for. :)

I have a 20 week pure FBCM roo, Dejéuner, that just got tattled on by a neighbour and so needs to find a home. So far he has shown zero human aggression, watches over the flock, and is generally a good boy. We never intended to keep a rooster from our last hatch, but we liked him so much we wanted to try. We’ve got 30 days to find him a new home.

Located in Mercer county.

(He’s on the left. I can go take a better picture if needed)
