I def will post photos ! So technically they are wild but I saved these four little guys from the live meat market and they are now mine ! They are extremely skiddish as they haven’t been treated kindly and are wild but the three that have been with me are slowly getting used to me ! I don’t know many people who have chukar partridges so this is a first for me ! I’ll keep everyone updated !

How did you come to rescue them from a live meat market?

I was vacationing in Philadelphia with my family and hubby wanted to try a restaurant in the area and we drove past it and I just knew that I would be rescuing something not sure what ! Lol ... I initially asked for pigeons since I figure I could set them free but once I saw all four beautiful babies huddled up in a small smelly poop filled cage I was like I want all of them ... they then pointed to the back room (kill room ) and I’m like no I want them alive ! I think the guy thought I might have been buying them for Santeria .... but he starts throwing the birds in a box and I’m like no! They are pets ! Are they not allowed to sell me a partridge alive ? Here’s some pics of the babies now !

NJ fish and wildlife stocks them for hunting too.

They’re very pretty birds and lucky that you rescued them!

You’ll have to look into Rockport pheasant farm. They have sold pheasants in the past when they had a surplus but I think they had to be bought in big numbers.

There is a pheasant farm up here in wantage nj.
Pretty birds!
Hackettstown nj has a live auction every tuesdsy starting at 10 am. Chickens, quail, rabbits, large farm animals. Most folks buy for food. Some buy to save the animals from slaughter

There is a guy around the corner from me that sells chuckars, they look like yours . He is on rt 519 in wantage on Plumbsock Farm
