LOOKING FOR ONE SILKIE CHICK..............PLEASE HELP

Wondering if anyone in NJ has any silkie chicks to sell. I'm actually just looking for one. I have a silkie now, and had a bantam slw. But just got rid of slw because she was constantly attacking the silkie, Pippie. Got the slw last August and she was a month old. Pippie of course pecked at her for about a day, and by end of day two the slw was making her way under Pippie to sleep and stay warm. After that, they were great friends and Pippie even a better mother. Any treats or bugs I would feed them, Pippie would not eat. She would make her Pippie noise and the slw would come running to take the treat from Pippie. I even separated them once so Pippie could eat and it took over 2 minutes for her to finally eat it herself. So, I really want another friend for her. She has a very sweet temperament and she never once stood up for herself when the slw was coming after her, even though the slw was even smaller than her.

Pippie is white so I would love to get any other color. I'm not picky and not going to show them, they're my pets and I love to spend time with them and spoil them. If you can help me please PM me. I'm in southern Ocean County, so I'm pretty much in the center and don't mind driving about an hour. Thanks so much!!!!!!

Wow John Bergmann gets around. He is our vet also lol. He does all our animals and was really great with our new litter of pigs.

Peeps, please check the above thread for some of the latest news accounts re: this proposed ordinance in NJ . Would love your feedback in that thread (to try to gather comment in one place). News of this proposal has gone crazy viral - Africa, India, Pakistan, France, UK, Canada, and on and on.

If this proposal gets adopted in the NJ municipality considering it, maybe other NJ muns will too so the time to comment is now.

Thx! JJ

Already commented about the ordinance over there - what idiots! The guy who owns the feed shop must need the chick business pretty bad to want to prevent others from breeding their own. Other than the stupidity, did anyone happen to mention the Bio-security rules regarding bringing new birds onto your property?

Thanks for the links!

- wrote you back there too.

I mentioned biosecurity over there today to try to help facilitate folks comments...
(also mentioned bird stress - imagine the social chaos if roos are introduced suddenly and then just as suddenly removed days later)

Talking about this last night at our 4-H meeting. Still trying to figure out how you can keep a rooster from crowing..... DH was reading in the paper this morning about Hopewell and their trout hatchery releasing fish into the water. His comment was he hopes Hopewell doesn't say the fish aren't allowed to swim.

He's dumb. You make waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy more money off FEEDING those animals than selling them! There is so much wrong with all of that. Why he would want his store associated with that is beyond me. Maybe we'll do the same at our store...Any one who has chicks that are more than a 7 on the "adorable scale" for more than 10 days (non-consecutive) a year must get rid of them.

Maybe he's the type that things any publicity is good publicity.

Maybe it's job creation. They can plant a person every five feet that glares into the water and says "Shame on you fishy. We have rules about these things ya know!"
