New layer......

I have 6 hens, all just 17 weeks old. 1 has started laying. 1st egg was Saturday morning, Sunday I got an egg as well. Went out this morning, no egg! Normal till they get in the hang of it? If 1 is laying, the rest should follow suit shortly? Thank you! I also have no idea which one is laying yet lol

Normal. No chicken lays 365 eggs a year anyhow. Young pullets are a bit hit or miss when they get started. Happy for you that the laying has begun.

What breed do you have? Some chickens don't lay an egg every day. Also, you are right, when pullets are brand new layers, it can be sporatic at first.....

Thanks everyone! I have 3 Golden Comets, 2 NH Reds and 1 RIR for breeds.

They won't all lay every day for the most part. I've got 7 laying age hens right now and get 4-7 eggs a day. When they first started laying it was pretty sporadic too.
